The article is a little silly in that it pretends walled gardens don't already exist. To many people, the web is just Facebook and Yahoo Mail.

I don't think the web is Yahoo Mail to many people.

I think this might be a prelude to an attack on Facebook.

That's not a walled garden, it's a hedge maze. You can get out of it you're willing to put in a modicum of effort.
