Anyone know how to get English captions?

Also found this version of The Hobbit (as I don’t know Russian I have no idea if this is solid or not) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ekbJdOGAxPQ

Wow, never knew this theatrical adaptation existed. Seems valid at first glance. Special thanks from my wife for the link))

(sorry, don't know about English captions. Seems like they aren't available for it)

The first meeting with Golem appears to be around 34:14. Not a bad job of Golem if you had to create him with makeup and costume only.

That’s “Gollum” (or possibly “Голлум”).

Here's a version with English captions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajknsrDX-VY

Hobbit, yes! While 1991 "lotr" and 1985 "the hobbit" are both tv playes, the lotr is rather awful and amateurish. But "the Hobbit" is a real masterpiece.

Thanks for the links! I wonder why they didn't post the links in the article?

They're afraid you might leave their "universe" and lose ad money.

They are in the article - don't know if they were added since you posted.

When going to youtube, I'm seeing a full page cookie consent and I can't proceed to the video without interacting with it. I didn't see that before.

I browse in private mode and clear cookies, looks like they want to show that page for every video in that case. Is there a plugin or tool that works around a page like this?

Wow, didn't know of it! Thank you very much, markvdb. I already see how much time it's going to save me.

My pleasure. Making people happy makes me smile.

What is that? The landing page shows videos but I'm not seeing youtube branding anywhere; is that a separate site? Could you elaborate?

Self answering: looks like it's an alternative front end to youtube, more details at https://github.com/iv-org/invidious .

it is called

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/412178-youtube-dismiss-sig...

Does this work even with YT's new full page nagware? That page only mentions pop-ups.

Yes, it was updated within a few days to auto click through the full page cookie/GDPR nag.

Thanks, but I'm not sure I wanted to auto-click anything. That kind of seems to defeat the purpose of me not consenting.

I can understand that.

Out of interest I disabled the script and tried the Customize option. Clicking Confirm then tries to redirect me via https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/ads/preferences/cu/optou...?... which is on both my uBlock and Pihole blocklists.

I'll carry on auto-consenting for cookie storage, and auto-deleting them when I close the tab.
