It actually not jarring when lights turn on instantly. It seems like a lot of these "smart home" solutions provide a much slower experience. Hold-to-dim is the worst of these.

I'm shocked that x10 still exists. There was a period around 1999(?) where they seemed to be the majority of web advertising on any tech-related site.

I recall getting a handful of their gear when I was a kid, for paying shipping. I'm both shocked they're still around and that the hardware doesn't look to have changed at all. If someone told me x10 was still alive and selling gear, I would have assumed wifi or zesvr or something similar.

Shame they sell cheap gadgets among more engineered products.
