Just because Texas isn't locked down, doesn't mean everyone acts like normal. as well just because CA is locked down, doesn't mean everyone complies to the lockdown....

This is why the politicization ruined any useful correlation analysis.

I knew better. The “test” of whether and to what extent lockdowns control the virus or “suppress outbreaks” (in Anthony Fauci’s words) has been tried all over the world. Every serious empirical examination has shown that the answer is no.

When the very title of an article starts with pure, abashed hyperbole - "So not everyone is flat-out dying from X? This means the risk of X is basically nil, right" - you can safely disregard the rest of the article.

Very very safely, in fact.

Ignoring the title, the author presents a reasoned case that lockdowns don't have an effect on COVID transmission.

Author does not make the case that lockdowns have an effect on COVID mortality.

I believe the title's intentionally hyperbolic to reflect the hyperbole that was generated by the media.

The elephant in the room.
