Facebook Helped the FBI Hack a Child Predator via 0-Day in Tails (2020)

Flash had the same habit of sending the player's IP address back to the server. A few crims got caught by that.

Certain nation states have a catalog of 0-days, but they don't want to burn one up for an ordinary crim.

This is a really fascinating and challenging story. Highly recommend reading it if anyone comes here to get the TL/DR.

The article shows a convo with the child predator via SMS, which of course reveals its number, which in turn makes it possible to track its location

I'm confused to why couldn't FBI busted the bastard by this?

Could have been a VOIP number
