This is a scary video of FSD beta 8.2 driving around the streets of Oakland.

I hate how the passenger is absolutely amazed and always commenting how well the car handles some minor tasks while it fails miserably at double parking, turning, and most importantly driving predictably for other cars.

The driver is luckily a lot more skeptical but that could be attributed to the fact the he is the one being highly alert and keeping the car from running into things.

I think the video works well with the two of them there - it lends some legitimacy to a video that could otherwise be dismissed as he's obviously enamored with the idea while the driver is more skeptical.

When you consider that a lot of Tesla drivers are also

a) Elon Musk fanatics

b) shareholders trying to save face on behalf of the company

their reaction makes perfect sense.

Or, you know, they could just think it's cool.

I'm just going to say that to someone who has never experienced such a thing, it is still quite incredible. SV bubble is too real.

Like I get many here were expecting fully self-driving cars by 2020, but even what have right now is kinda mind-boggling.

It’s pretty bizarre; there’s a definite feeling of artificial balance. Maybe it makes their videos more palatable to Tesla fans.

I am scared by how much the detection boxes flicker and disappear randomly, it indicates how unsure the system is.

it does not. what it indicates is that detection is done per-frame and there’s no continuity across frames of detector information.

Tesla is going to poison the well for autonomous driving.

That kind of driving wouldn't pass a driving test.
