- Biotech and green energy (GND) being the next two big growth segments of the economy
- SV ethos and entrepreneurs unequipped for both of these fields
- Big tech will eventually be regulated and (perhaps) broken up
- Big platforms should be using their algorithmic systems on improving human welfare, not on hate and echo chambers
- The demise of labor unions means we have a class of "precariat" gig workers who lack collective power
- There will be climate billionaires in the US
- There is so much physical work that needs to be done to create climate resiliency that we shouldn't have unemployment for a decade

I think the difference between me and Tim is that all of this convinces me we need a planned economy.
Would goverment incentive be classified as planned economy. If yes then we certainly need one if we are going to achieve all the listed point above.
No. We need a mixed economy which does a dramatically better job at lowering economic inequality and protecting the environment. In the US one great start to solving these two problems would be a UBI and a significant carbon tax.
I'm curious; where is the talk of a planned economy coming from? Who is the most famous current economist or writer that is proposing such? My general impression is that the planned economy mostly exists in the imaginations of many on the right, who ascribe it to all Democrats.
