Decarbonization: Think Globally, Act Locally

In terms of feedback on the title, I'm going to say that I feel really burned by the phrase "think globally, act locally"

I was around 8 years old when I first heard the phrase (in the 80's)

We've known for longer than my entire life that carbon was a problem. That it was an existential threat to life on this planet.

But the politicians and the lobbyists cooked up stories and slogans like that to try and obfuscate the problem.

They tried to convoy people that if we all just recycled a little bit better we had a chance to save the world.

I've lived my whole life believing that the small steps I was taking were what it would take to make sure the world wouldn't end in catastrophe.

This was a lie then. It is a lie now.

One container ship sailing from China to Vancouver spews more carbon than I've produced in my whole life. Many times more than the amount I've saved via a lifetime of small "think local" effort.

We don't need "think global, act local" we need draconian legislation that forces the big players to step the fuck up and pay for the shit they spew.

The theme of the article itself sounds to me to be more about "preparing for the coming decarbonization gold rush" ... And making sure it happens.
