Promiscuous America: Smart, Secular, and Somewhat Less Happy

Given the vagaries of what a self-report of "happiness" means, it's hard for me to take even 5 percentage points of difference seriously.

The report is really, really insistent that getting married makes you happy. It seems at least as likely that having met somebody you could see yourself marrying is the important factor. Forcing yourself to get married just so you can check that box seems unlikely to work.

Is this data controlled for gayness? The article doesn't seem to say.
