Dope - how does [any car, not just tesla] know when the light is red/green - and whats the behavior to respond to a yellow light.

Given a yellow light - whats the cut-off dist for when it knows to stop or keep going?

Color-keyed traffic signals might be the easiest of all the computer vision problems for self-driving. Here's a sample from a Waymo customer where the car pulls up at a light. It's not a complicated situation but it should give you some idea of the distance from which the car sees the light.

Later in the same video, where it stops for a yellow.
