My father died 23 years ago, his voice is now an NFT

I'll be completely blunt: I hate self promotion, and I expect this to not make a single cent and have just lost me the gas fee to create the contract.

That said I think this is an interesting thing. My father dies 12 days before my 13th birthday, we just observed that anniversary last week. This is the only known recording of his voice, and I would all but kill for just a few minutes of him talking, but this is what I have.

Now he exists as this tiny sliver of the ethereum blockchain, as long as it lasts he has another sliver of perceived immortality. The 100 dollars and change I spent creating the NFT is my birthday present to myself this year, a little bit of novelty that I'll be able to write about in my letter to him next year (link to this year's can be found in the blog post).

If someone can get international news for selling a jpg file for tens of millions of dollars, then maybe, just maybe, I can make a few more people know that my father existed and give his memory a little bit longer to exist in the collective consciousness.
