The downvotes show that users were justly irritated with you for posting your complaint as a reply to the top comment (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26395513 - I've since detached it), when it had no particular relevance there. That's bad community behavior—it meant that your post was piggybacking on the upvotes that the other comment received, allowing it to sit at the top of the page, which subverts the ranking system and is unfair to all the other commenters who didn't do that.
