If you think agile/scrum is bureaucratic try this thing called "SAFe".
But in all seriousness - scrum as it is practiced today is not beneficial. It's mostly used for "accountability" rather than the "collaborative/communication" mechanism that it was supposed to be. Add into that situations where product/program management questions every little estimation decision (e.g. do you really need those system guarantees? can we leave automated testing out of the MVP to reduce story points).
Agile has been corporatized (if such a word exists) and is no longer "agile".
