They still don't have a smart contract platform launched on the mainnet afaik. The only reason to use it in my mind is as an alternative to Ethereum, NEO, EOS, etc in the smart contract space. Every year that goes by where it does not have it's core competitive feature in a production-ready state is a nail in the coffin from my perspective.

Yes, and that's why I am suggesting to wait ~a month until it is deployed as per the road map before taking a hard stance.
I've been watching for awhile. The road map said it was going to be out in ~a month, a year or two ago. Excuse my skepticism, but I feel like I've been following the eternally shifting roadmap long enough to warrant it. I like Haskell, I flipped through their Plutus example code, I want to use the product! They should just ship what they have.
