Pycoreutils – Python re-implementation of GNU coreutils
github.com
github.com
Pros: Makes common commands more transparent and easily approachable/understandable/modifyable by newer/less-experienced programmers and non-C programmers and non-programmer power users/sysadmins/general IT guys...
(Possible con (depending on circumstance): Creates a dependency on Python and its libraries... This wouldn't be a problem for most OS distributions, but might be a problem for a bare-bones or embedded (limited space) and/or super security hardened distro...)
But (that minor possible con for some scenarios aside), I like this idea a whole lot!
