Francis Bacon: Revelations review – a landmark biography

If you're ever in Dublin, his London studio has been completely moved and recreated inside the Hugh Lane gallery [1]. It's really worth visiting.

Fascinating character for sure. He once gave an interview to the Swiss public TV. He gets drunker and drunker as the interview goes and gives great insights on his art [2].

This is about Francis Bacon the contemporary artist.

Why are there so many famous people with the otherwise uncommon name 'Francis Bacon'?

My boss Lenny at the Innis Film Library at the University of Toronto ( also T1 internet in '94 ) told me his meeting of Francis Bacon: Lenny was walking down the stairs at MOMA and someone walking with a cane was coming up the stairs. The man walked past Lenny and smacked him withe the cane. Lenny looked up and saw that it was Bacon. Bacon saw that Lenny was looking at him and told him to fuck off.

The art style of Francis Bacon is fantastic, but the troubled life he led is maybe even more intriguing, mysterious and dark.

For those curious, here's a very well done documentary on Francis by BBC - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgrO5za0lSY (warning, graphic themes)

I love the 1953 triptych series, but the Pope Innocent X thing is such a trip. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Study_after_Vel%C3%A1zquez%27s...
