Looks like a global issue

https://downdetector.com/status/linkedin/

Was able to log in to uk.linkedin.com and accept an invite, but got an error message on logout. Now just getting errors.

Unrelated to anything, but interesting (to me) the copyright line at the bottom of the UK site was reading 2020 a few minutes ago.

API is definitely down:

Status: 500 Headers: Content-Type: text/plain Client-Date: Tue, 23 Feb 2021 19:29:05 GMT Client-Warning: Internal response Content: Server closed connection without sending any data back

Is it down for the app too?

Ref B is the Azure Front Door POP, most likely.

i was getting this, but now it says

Unknown Host Unable to locate the server; the server does not have a DNS entry. Perhaps there is a misspelling in the server name or the server no longer exists; double-check the name and try again. Please double-check the URL (address) you used, or contact us if you feel you have reached this page in error.

I wonder how difficult it'd be to setup a static site version of LinkedIn that's read-only for when it's down. Not that any major site does anything like that.

Static data, cacheable by a CDN, by definition cannot have any personalized content - activity from your connections. Sure, they can have a generic welcome page, but that is about it.

Moreover, anything complicated that activates only once a year is likely to fail miserably as well.

I agree, but LinkedIn is uniquely positioned in that the meat of the matter, e.g. the profiles are relatively static. Surely it wouldn't be difficult to make the company pages and profiles work even if LinkedIn was down?

Same deal

2021-02-23 1740 UTC and it's back up for me, now.

And nothing of value was lost. IMHO

I would have found out by 2022 for sure.

Maybe it was due to copying a really-large clipboards contents...

SQL injection? do they escape your clipboard before they save it? lol

down in east coast
