Google fires top AI ethics researcher Margaret Mitchell

This seems to be part of a wider restructuring of AI teams at Google.

I'm still not clear what the huge injustice at the core of this is meant to be. There is a lot of innuendo, then it just links to another fact free article or a tweet saying someone was fired.

Full disclosure: I am pretty STEM-centric so the whole idea of being an ethics researcher seems questionable to me...

The intro and Leaving Google sections don't show any actual basis controversy. It seems to come down to her work being questioned, her threatening to resign and Google "accepting".

How can we be sure this wasn't something engineered by the AI itself?
