Open source decentralized social network, like Twitter. Developed with WebRTC

Interesting use of tech but I think Mastodon/Activitypub is decentralised enough for most people. If this could federate with the existing platforms then I think its great - if it is yet another platform I don't think I'll be checking it out.

I plan to integrate after MVP release. Thanks

Oups!

so what are the advantages of this over activitypub and scuttlebutt

Well this seems to be fully p2p as in decentralised to the user rather than just to the server. That comes with its own problems though... Problems that don't seem to have many advantages over having federated servers. I would also like to see an argument for using this over a ActivityPub implementation like Mastodon.

Launch day!

What is FoxQL?

FoxQL is a social network that runs on your browser as peer to peer. It does not require any setup or registration

There is no magement stuff for checking the content. Users can decide which topics and content will stay in foxql cycle

What's the topology of the network? Does every node make a WebRTC Datachannel connection to every other node? (That wouldn't scale.)

Mesh up to a limit. Normally, every query is sent to everyone via websocket. Users simulate the query packet and a webrtc connection is initiated if the appropriate result is available.

If there are too many results, the result set is narrowed.

Yeah no WebRTC could ever be used to track you...

Who created the shared content is not kept. After sharing, just remove the content. Others will take on this task for you.

I fixed same bugs.

Isn’t one Twitter horrible enough? Why create another one?

Just curiosity
