Google to pay $76m to APIG group of French news publishers in docs seen by Reuters. APIG commit to use & feed Google’s News Showcase.

Reuters struck a deal in Jan to be 1st global news provider for Google News Showcase.

Follows new EU copyright law/rule for neighbouring rights implemented in France. Other French publishers, complain agreement opaque, unfair & not abiding neighbouring rights. “Google took advantage of our divisions to advance its interests”
