Why is a billionaire (with a fortune built on shady business practices and a monopoly) talking publicly and influencing public policy?

Who exactly elected him?

It's what they do.

His foundation is a significant player in the non-profit & NGO world. Whether you like him or not, his influence extends far beyond tech.

Yes, so, basically "because money".

Why are you talking publicly about a billionaire? Who elected you?

I'm not influencing public policy, setting up foundations and organizations to lobby, inviting politicians and policy makers to conferences, or pushing for this or that through mass paid campaigns.

Talking publicly as an individual is part of what's called "democracy".

Undue influence based on your money is part of what's called corporatism.

> I'm not influencing public policy,

That’s up to you. He is, and so could you. You’d have to do more work than him, but you could.

Bill should stick to predicting how much ram we'll need in the future.

I can't understand why people still can't separate Bill Gates from Microsoft, or vaccines

So how feasible is bioterrorism and what resources does one need?

Lone individual, terrorist org, or military-level difficult?
