Blockchain Industrial Complex still trying.

IBM decided they don't need a blockchain

The fact that IBM failed to grasp this before jumping on the bandwagon does nothing but further erode confidence in IBM.

Public blockchains are massively multiclient, open state databases

Only 2 small, little problems.

1) Who needs this --- other than cryptocurrency?

2) Who pays the operating cost --- other than cryptocurrency?

Bottom line --- Blockchain is a solution tailored to a unique problem that only cryptocurrency has.

Blockchain does not work without the cryptocurrency, so if you are not implementing yet another Bitcoin's fork, you NEVER need a Blockchain.
