It'd be a lot more useful if it captured the websites visited in the browser, the files edited in the text editor, the current directories in the shells, etc.

I thought that was wat it would do. Guess not! Does anyone know of a tool that does?

Edit: seems like ActivityWatch (mentioned below) does

Read the privacy policy of your favorite apps... Although they keep that information for themselves.

For tracking URLs, you could use the following extension: URL in title

I'm working on a time tracking tool inspired by Arbtt, written in Rust, that also tracks visited websites including metadata (e.g. YouTube video category), tracks shell directories etc, and also is able to import data from your phone and other sources like Google Fit.

It's not complete, but it's already working great for myself:

I've added a comparison to Arbtt and ActivityWatch in the readme.

Wow, this is a Haskell program developed in 2009 and still actively maintained. Who would've thunk it?

I'll be installing it later today, it looks very interesting.

You also want to check out ActivityWatch [0] if you into that kind of stuff.

Very nice! Thanks, trying this now.

BLUF: watches your active windows, produces a report.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Am surprised there are no comment on an interesting topic like this.

Sounds similar to RescueTime from many years ago, though that could slow down a computer, so I abandoned it pretty quickly.

What about Arbeitt? IMHO, a bit more interesting wordplay.

That might be a bit confusing for native English speakers given the 'albeit' conditioning.

For people who have to fill out detailed timesheets
