Yet another reason why some of us fear getting too close to the Ruby hipsters.

Broad generalities like "Ruby hipsters" are just as juvenile as the stupid dick jokes that begot the stereotype.

I think his sentiment resonates with the numerous outsiders who are amazed that this kind of drama always seems to bubble up from the Ruby community.

  > bubble up from the Ruby community.

And somehow always involves Zed.

I was referring more to the latent sexual confusion.

Zed has nothing to do with the ruby community - even he says this. He wrote a web server in ruby once.

In his post he even goes on to say how much he likes python.

FYI, in my usage "Ruby hipsters" ⊂ Rubyists

Its a language, get over yourself. The rails guys != all ruby users. This is just Zed wanting a confirm step so someone with a grudge stops annoying him.

It seems unfair to put the abuse of one user on the ruby community as a whole.

Let's remind everybody zed published a rails is a ghetto rant that has since been taken down. He's already got much hate for the ruby community
