People are reacting negatively (flagging) to the fact that this is mentioning florida's response to covid-19. Leave that aside and read the rest of the article, it's an interesting point of how florida is attracting top firms and could be a true destination for ambitious people.

We’ll see if these projections hold for Florida. But, it’s not at all “ridiculous” to suspect Florida is covering up a higher overall rate of death due to Coronavirus. We’ll also see if DeSantis raided a researcher’s home to suppress that.
Texan here. Our county investigates death and marks it as COVID if it follows the stages of it. We have zero deaths under the age of 40. Schools remain open, very few distance learners. We still take precautions, especially around older folks and retirement centers.
But I can say that your speculation, at least over here, has no merit.

I think it is but help me understand the counter argument. Why and how would they lie about the death toll?
