International Payment Methods

4 pointszaheddec11 comments

We are a Canadian Startup having customers in Indian subcontinent. Recently tried to integrate stripe checkouts. We could see all payment methods (cards, wallets) work in Canada but in India only credit cards no wallets are shown.

are we doing something wrong or it's just credit cards when come to international customers?

We want to use localized payment methods such as local wallets and bank transfers. Any alternatives for this?

Stripe is not a good choice for Indian payments, we had trouble taking payments as the gateway rejects visa cards too. We've contacted the support multiple times but never received a solution. I recommend to try RazorPay.com (YC backed) just for Indian subcontinent.

Stripe fully supports Visa transactions in India.

And strange—I'm sorry you never got a solution. Would you mind forwarding one of those support emails to me at edwin@stripe.com and I can see what happened?

Edwin, I've reported the incident to you on 9th Oct 2020, never received a solution - not even an acknowledgment.

I’m really sorry about that. I see it now (found it in a spam folder). We’ll look into this and get back.

thanks saradhi for the reply. Do they support international businesses?

We dont have an office in India and we dont have any contacts there.

I guess they support only Indian companies but global payments, luckily ours was Indian registered.

Thats really lucky of you Saradhi.

Edwin from Stripe here. We don't support Indian local payment methods yet (but we're working on it!).

Thanks Endwin for the quick response and thanks for wonderful APIs.

Want to know if visa, mastercard labeled debit cards can be used for checkout? or only credit card are accepted?

Looking forward to local payment methods for truly global business feel :)

Yes! Visa and Mastercard debit cards are supported.

Thanks Edwin for the information. I think we can move ahead with it for now. But will be definitely looking forward for google pay and other wallet payments for India.

Thanks a million again. You guys have amazing support.
