Terrace Pace, a satellite development company, has formed a business and technology alliance for the development and launch of a space temple using satellites

(Headquarters: Sakyo-ku, Kyoto; President: Sadai Kitagawa; hereinafter referred to as "Terrace Pace") has formed a business and technology alliance with Daigoji Temple, a World Heritage Site in Kyoto (Headquarters: Fushimi-ku, Kyoto; Head Priest: Junkazu Nakata; hereinafter referred to as "Daigoji"), for the development and launch of a space temple by satellite.

Terrace Space will be a space temple on a satellite, utilizing a section of the IoT satellite scheduled for launch in 2023. In addition to the development of the satellite, Teraspace and Daigoji will establish the Koyunji Executive Committee, which will operate the space temple and serve as its secretariat.

In cooperation with Daigoji Temple, the IoT satellite will be used for the protection of cultural assets in mountainous areas where there is no cell phone signal.

The space temple has been named "Jotenin Gounji" (Kounji). The temple will be based on the Dharma school of Daigoji Temple, which is dedicated to the protection of the universe. Space Buddhist services are held regularly at Daigoji and other temples for the peace of the entire universe including the earth and the safety of human activities in space. Space temples are temples floating in space, and they operate in low earth orbit at an altitude of 400km to 500km, circling the earth for about one and a half hours. The space temple's current location information will be available on a smartphone app.
