Interesting chart. i'd suggest using the same colour for each bar as people will try to read something into the colours if you vary them.

Also, "interest" would be more accurate than "sentiment" in its current form.

Oh good point about the colors. Right, someone might attribute green to good and red to bad.

Yea, I was struggling to get the right terminology because "interest" might mean "short interest" in the current context of wsb.

Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe just "Stock mentions" would be more appropriate as it doesn't seem to do sentiment analysis.

Looks neat though.

unambiguous “attention” or “mentions” ?

There is also "Swaggy Stocks" which tracks this, as well as a bunch of othere WSB related stuff! https://swaggystocks.com/dashboard/wallstreetbets/ticker-sen...

Oh wow this one is even more advance. Thanks for linking.

Formatting is a bit off on mobile, but I'm sure you're aware and working on it.

If you haven't thought of it already, you could turn this into a somewhat modular tool. Someone can go to a page, enter the subreddit of their choice, the keywords they want (or just let your software parse the most popular words that aren't common language), and have a nice chart like this quickly.

Thanks for the feedback. I am using charjs. Not sure how to make it responsive and mobile ready.

Interesting idea about other subreddit. I might try and do that and see what type of data I get back.

I think it's great as it is, better formatting doesn't give more interesting data to me.

Having a graph and going more real time would be cool though.

Would love to hear more on the methodology that drives the chart. Is it raw number of mentions of a stock, or does it use sentiment analysis for positive/negative mentions of a stock?

Yup. It is just the raw number of mentions. How many submission/comment has the term $GME, $AMC, or ect...

Thanks for the clarification.

Nice job by the way. Would also be interesting to be able to click on a bar and see a spark line chart over time to show trends.

Thanks. That is a good idea, but might be outside my level of expertise. But I can look into adding it. No promises, though.

How often are you polling WSB? Are you just scraping the pages by date?

I am streaming the data from reddit, so no polling. The database updates every 90 seconds due to the free limit of cloudflare workers.

Didn't a lot of sentiment analysis/NLP companies already tried to make Wallstreetbets sentiments since forever, and couldn't actually make useful data because of the noise (intentional). The only way today is different is that because these days they are united under singular stock, so its pretty easy. But regular wallstreetbets activity, no chance.

> and couldn't actually make useful data because of the noise

because that's what they told you?

No, its my own deduction. I've been in that site for more than a year and there are a lot of noise and spam stock on purpose to obfuscate sentiment from NLP stuffs. It has a lot of satire in it.

What do you think?

This site has done this, and more:

https://swaggystocks.com/dashboard/home

That's a really slick website. However it still can't tell the difference between 3 letter words (or 4) that also happen to be symbols. Take for example APPS on the Ticket Sentiment (https://swaggystocks.com/dashboard/wallstreetbets/ticker-sen...). I haven't seen anyone talk about Digital Turbine Inc, but lots of people talking about investing apps. Would be nice if Reddit had some autofill feature that prepended $ to symbols. $APPS vs apps. Perhaps a mod feature they could enable?

If that site is really working as intended then there will be no surprise with all of this?

Color me skeptical.

This is amazing, have you thought about making the code open ? I think we all have a million questions about NLS and sentiment analysis.

I would bet a steak dinner that someone in Wall Street has built something similar to this to "front run" the WSB horde...

Now do mentions per minute (or most granular interval possible) correlated with price :)

lol this would be funny to see.

This is neat! I was wondering if someone would make something cool like this.

As someone who knows nothing about sentiment analysis / NLP, what do the units on the x-axis mean? Number of positive mentions?

Simply just number of positive mentions. Essentially a mention is an upvote.

Nice chart, can you share some insight, how are building this, I believe you use reddit api and store the comments and run NLP on that? cleaning data is a headache.

NAKED might not be an accurate representation of NAKD since the phrase "naked short" is used so frequently.

made my own version https://insightrend.com/?term=gme&term=amc&term=nok

started few months ago, didnt predict wsb (wish i would lol)

This is a shitty version of marketstream.io and similars.

That doesn't show sentiment it shows mentions.

Cool idea, thanks for putting this together.

Thanks for taking a look!

AMC above GME?

Right??? This morning GME was ahead, AMC overtook GME in the afternoon.

I don't get it.
