Your point is reasonable but if/when this information is widely known I'd expect many patients to demand the medicine. To each individual it's not the overall civic outcomes that matter anywhere near as much them personally living + thriving. Also, with all the emerging info about potential long term side effects like "viral vasectomy" I'd expect even younger/healthier patients would want this drug to limit longer term negative outcomes that fall short of death.
