Using the word conspiracy is one of those words that there has been a conspiracy against. Multiple organizations, most likely acting independently, have conspired to make articles that use the word be instinctively be viewed as fringe and nutty.

Nonetheless, it's often used appropriately. This article just says business truths. Rent collectors, of any kind, will spend money to spread FUD about competition that has a product to achieve the same outcomes by a different root path. This happens because it's usually cheaper to take that option, or it drives short term gains/profit, instead of investing in an o long-term better way.

Business people, doing business things. Busting rent collectors is difficult, in the US and world wide because the people who are being lobbied also make the laws about how they can be lobbied.

It is not a conspiracy to do anything in ones power (eg voting) to prevent the use of nuclear fission energy production because one believes that such energy production will not be sufficiently safe.
