Ask HN: Should I quit software engineering?

Broad question, but I’m asking myself some tough life questions. I think many on here have done the same. I’m a relatively good engineer, I make 300k at Amazon. But I struggle immensely to stay motivated and complete my software tasks. For years I’ve been on the brink of being fired due to being really slow at work, which is primarily due to boredom, hating the immense complexity, the constant learning. Racking my brain all week dominates my life and stops me from expanding my life on my own time. At 30 years old, I recognize that this is unsustainable. What are my options? I can’t get this pay anywhere else, and I’ve worked so hard to get my current position. Software feels more and more competitive and I feel more and more like a run of the mill line worker.
