Thought-crimes are horrifying, and therefore criminal, in the minds of any ruling class.

Much like Iran which used to be a country well on its way to greatness and slid back to the middle ages, Turkey seem to be headed squarely back to barbarism.

To think there were serious conversations back in the day to integrate Turkey into the EU ... that seems completely unthinkable these days with that kind of regression.

Let's also be clear — it's not just "When", it's "Where".

And the "Where" is Turkey, which is no longer a nation which tolerates freedom of expression or political dissent.

He is also journalist and was arrested after 2016 coup attempt. I disagree with his prison sentence, but painting him just as an erotic fiction author is simply not true.
