But now that it's the Chinese government being censored for their treatment of the Uighurs, I'm almost gleeful. Those scoundrels deserve it for their inhumane treatment of human beings!
I just realized that I'm a hypocrite.
First, the Chinese account is still active, they only disabled new tweets: https://twitter.com/chineseembinus
That's very different from what they did to 45's account.
Second, Trump was democratically elected in 2016 and two months ago he had 75 million people (13 million more than 2016) reaffirm their trust in him. That's somewhat different from the Chinese or Russian situation.
Silencing someone elected isn't the same as silencing someone self-appointed.
Silencing is silencing. It the act of censorship which is wrong, no matter who is silenced.
Who sets the criteria? I used to laugh at people who cried out about censorship, until it happened to me several times on social media. (And one of those times was when I merely commented on a photo that I hadn't seen that particular piece of hospital equipment ["iron lung"]for many, many years.)
I am against the Trump censorship on Twitter and has gotten countless downvotes on this site whenever I talked about it.
Are you saying the Chinese censorship was wrong too? Because I didn't deny that, I merely said that the Trump case was worse. If you think they're all equally bad that's fine by me.
Yes. Seems we agree. All censorship is bad. You can't ever have free speech if you also have censorship.
