Dropboxs Performance is degrading for years and I have enough of this

> I subscribe to the Dropbox Tech Blog and now it clicked: You are compressing the files on the client with "Brotli", save bandwidth, storage space and money on your side, make it in theory faster to download (because no recompression has to take place), but this whole concept just crashes under its own overengineered weight! You named this "Broccoli: Syncing faster by syncing less" and state your "zero-crash policy" ... well i can make it crash 3 or 4 times a day.
1. Is what this person is saying about compression true? Not sure how they'd be compressing files "on the client" when it's sitting in my ext file system (perhaps I'm misunderstanding something here).
2. I've personally never had any issues of the sort, and I'd consider myself a relatively heavy Dropbox user. Has anyone else experienced this constant crashing?
I've had similar feelings about Dropbox getting slower. However, I'm beginning to wonder if my expectations are just rising over the years. Dropbox's performance felt amazing back when they launched because, frankly, I didn't have much to compare it to. I also had fewer files, and they were likely smaller on average.
Dropbox launched in 2008, back when most of us still had slow mechanical hard drives, slower internet, and slow USB sticks. Everything was slower back then.
Dropbox may have gotten faster, but I'd bet the average size of a Dropbox user's data has grown faster than the speedups.
