Such a well rounded changelog! https://sourceforge.net/projects/tcl/files/Tcl/8.6.11/tcltk-...

I love seeing UTF and timezone updates for projects, it means they care about the solid boring work that makes a system complete.

*edit, even the homebrew version has been updated already and the install counts are much higher than I expected.

    ==> Analytics
    install: 278,216 (30 days), 304,234 (90 days), 388,089 (365 days)
    install-on-request: 8,659 (30 days), 16,955 (90 days), 59,716 (365 days)
    build-error: 0 (30 days)

boring & solid & works is a perfect description of tcl&tk. And I mean that in the best way imaginable.

That may be so but I really enjoy Tcl for its playful and idiosyncratic take on things. If you want to play with uplevel and upvar, run multiple interpreters in their own threads with no GIL, define your own control flow, use event driven designs, then Tcl is the language to use.

upvote for uplevel/upvar

I guess there's no "X" in Big Sur anymore ;)

Its been on my list to try writing a reasonably modern web application using nothing but SQLite and:

https://wapp.tcl.tk/home/doc/trunk/README.md

Which is created by the creator of SQLite! I think it'd be a joy to develop something with some "boring" tech

And while you're at it, you could use Fossil also written by D. Richard Hipp and used to host the canonical Tcl/Tk source code repositories.

Yeah, I honestly think there are some great learnings to be had from fossil that could be applied to git as well. Its unfortunate that ticketing, wikis, etc are all vendor specific for git (gitlab, github, bitbucket, sr.ht, etc) but with fossil you get it all at the same time.
