Ask HN: Good Paper(less) document management system

I’m using DEVONthink, it’s very powerful and pretty well thought. You can organize your documents in folders or by tags, do full text search, convert to OCR, and so on. Unfortunately it’s a proprietary (and paid) software and I haven’t found a free/open source alternative yet.

The German article on document management systems lists a few free and proprietary DMSs. It might offer something that fits?

Evernote ? It's not super good for this purpose, and you will need to move to one of the paid programs but it offers scanning, searching in PDF and some organization and structure
