I have stage 4 medullary thyroid cancer and started receiving one of the drugs (Retevmo) about two weeks after it was approved by the FDA.

It has absolutely saved my life, it is everything I prayed for, and it is hard to comprehend how fortunate I am to have access to this medicine, that this treatment has literally no side effects, and to be alive at this time in history.

I have no doubt I'd be dead if my disease progressed 5 or 10 years earlier when there was no good treatment available for MTC. (My first chemo was failing right when Retevmo was approved)

It's not a cure, and I don't know how long it will last before my cancer outsmarts the drug, but it is so reassuring there is such rapid research and breakthroughs being made.

Amazing to hear, I've always thought that Medical Science is like Computer Science, stagnant. I'm glad to hear you are doing well now and modern science is advancing!

Why would you think either is stagnant? There are plenty of advances in both, all the time.

This comment brought tears to my eyes. As someone who has lost many loved ones to cancer, and who has had cancer myself, hearing the "c-word" always brings on a chilling wave of helpless terror.

It seems in the near future, many cancer patients won't have to feel that indescribable terror. And that is a stunningly beautiful thing.

So happy to hear your story and fight. I lost my dad in 2019 after 10 years of stage 4 Thyroid cancer. I was always on FDA site and on internet to look for new treatments. Your case made my day or month... :) Beat Cancer.
