Meta-comment about the post itself: It makes sense for an article to be on HN when a member of our community dies or when someone really important to technology or industry dies, but why is Phil Spector relevant to anyone here?
I suppose you could argue record production falls in the realm of technology since it encompasses audio engineering but it’s definitely a bit of a stretch.
Spector himself was pretty instrumental in making technology part of popular music.
My impression from reading HN is that innovators of various fields are celebrated. In a lot of cases, the innovators will only be relevant or interesting to a few.
