I truly hope this thread generates at least half as many comments as the threads about the bans have managed to generate.

Token counterpoint so they don't just appear to be stooges in America's culture wars...but I really don't believe either of Merkel or Macron is truly interested in anything but a totally sanitized and nerfed internet.

The good news is we are seeing a new reality - internet "power" is useless. Your pithy, massively-upvoted comment on reddit doesn't move the needle anymore. This was the real lesson of the Capitol riots...keyboard warriors will need to get out of their chairs.

Even the beloved Western pet Navalny thinks banning Trump is wrong. I wonder if the American media will respond or just ignore it as usual.
