The work laptops have Swiss German, French and Italian on them, for my user profile I use EN-US and German (Germany). But every once in a while (actually very often) Windows would decide, "Oh you're using the French layout now". Or the Swiss German one. Even though these layouts are not listed as configured when I open the layouts control panel.

Ah no joke, looks like they know you better than yourself
I have to work with D365 applications a lot and it is flabbergasting how companies accept this level unreliability.
Or even just keep a Windows 7 VM handy. Cannot tell you how many times XP, 7, and 10 VMs running on a macOS host have saved the day for me.
