Toto’s ‘Africa’ Will Play Forever on Loop in the Namib Desert (2019)

Zero engineering effort has been put into this. I am sorry, but this is lame.

Had they constructed a shape that could float on the changing dunes, something that could charge into a medium that wouldn't degrade, this won't even last 6 months, then it would be interesting.

I was hoping for Discotheque of the Long Now.

I think the title is setting us up here. I'm not sure the artist actually intended it to last forever. Art like this is more about making a statement, rather than making a feat of engineering.

What is the statement, rich white Europeans leave trash in the sand?

edit, I don't think was even in the desert. The video is motion tracked. The artist is bad dancer with no butt hole.

> Discotheque of the Long Now

makes you want to start the Sandbenders ( http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/content.asp?Bnum=80 ) and build the thing yourself

At first I thought it was some kind of passive speaker structure using wind as its input lol

How is this not just littering?

Don't litter the desert because of your childish fascination with a song.
