You're not wrong. I've maintained a mission critical CentOS server for the better part of a decade and it has been quite stable and dependable, despite their embrace of systemd which broke stuff the system required. I think I only had to do a manual reboot three times during that point, which is good, because it is on a remote mountaintop with access to the range controlled by armed guards.
Still, you seem to be missing the larger point. Suddenly, CentOS is dead. Maybe I'm an outlier, but that seems like a disruption in its stability and dependability.
