The Making of “The Godfather” – Sort of a home movie (1971)

Something interesting is that the author of the article, Nicholas Pileggi, later went on to do books that Goodfellas and Casino were based on

> “And when it comes out,” one Colombo man active in the first film’s production admitted, “it’ll cost me three bucks and an hour on line to see.”

So funny to see a pre-Netflix reference to time "on line" watching a movie.

> There are so many careers and biographies that could be made into constructive and intellient movies, such as the life of Enrico Fermi, the great scientist; Mother Cabrini; Colonel Ceslona, a hero of the Civil War; Garibaldi, the great Italian who unified Italy; William Paca, a signer of the Declaration of Independence; Guglielmo Marconi, and many, many others.”

A Garibaldi epic would be grand. And I could see Alex Garland or the Nolans making a Fermi Paradox movie.

Happy birthday, don Vito! (7 December)
