Ask HN: Do You Like Agile?

2 pointsnoemit4 comments

Just to clarify, I'm not asking if you like Agile as opposed to waterfall. Just asking if you like Agile.

1. What was your productivity system on the first thing you ever coded? 2. Did you start coding as a hobby or did you start as a profession or toward a profession? 3. Do you like Agile?

Just trying to see something.

1. Focus for long stretches 2. Profession 3. No

The impasse goes something like, programmer says "it gets done when it gets done," and agile wonk says, "I can't tell higher-ups that," programmer conjures up some mumbo jumbo to make wonk go away, agile wonk then constructs a narrative around "story points." End result: it gets done when it gets done, and agile wonk remains on payroll.

what happened in between those long stretches?

Administering to spouse and offspring.

I love it and have built my entire career around being an agile designer. It beats the shit out of everything else IF you practice it correctly.
