The lede is kinda buried here. The reason he was revealed is because he got sued by a woman who claimed that she knew where the treasure was but her phone was hacked. She accuses the (previously anonymous) finder of hacking her phone.

It's actually pretty clever of her. He'll most likely want to settle out of court by just giving her some money.

If she knew where the treasure was, she could have gone and picked it up. Clearly she did not. Her case seems to lack any merit (from what I have read) and I imagine she will have to pay for his legal fees in the end.

I kind of feel sorry for her. I read someplace that she has more or less given up her job, moved to NM and lives out of her car.

The guy who did find it should clearly NOT settle though. You do it once and the next crazy will come out of the woods looking for their handout.
