I use my pre-Microsoft Hotmail credentials for the MS company store.
Windows installation now requires you to be logged in with a Microsoft account (no way to set it up with a local account).
That's not exactly a true statement - you can make a local account, depending on Windows version, but have to jump through hoops to find that setting.
I do get the point though.
For Pro/Ent, I choose to set it up on a domain (there's no domain). Following that, I get options to setup a local account.
I've done Edu w/ local accounts as well but I don't recall the procedure.
