Ask HN: Best FOSS Games?

3 pointsrtkaratekid1 comment

I'm not really in the gaming community (or play them very much), but recently I've been interested in finding games that are FOSS or just Indie and seeing what cool things people build. I recently re-discovered Dwarf Fortress, found a few games that are similar to it (unfortunately forgot to bookmark them and lost the link), played SuperTux Kart, and . What games have you found or enjoyed?

The Ur-Quan Masters (http://sc2.sourceforge.net/downloads.php) is the open source release of Star Control 2 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Control_II), a classic space exploration, role-play, and space combat game.

Nethack (https://www.nethack.org/) is a classic dungeon crawl. Like Dwarf Fortress, it is light on graphics and heavy on challenging gameplay.
