Ask HN: What is some good literature on software design?

I'm not after quantity, but rather a limited (but hopefully comprehensive) set of well curated material. In particular I'm interested in seminal, authoritative, groundbreaking, thought provoking work that established or evolved software design, construction, and managing its complexity.

Examples that I think fit these criteria:

- Recursive Functions of Symbolic Expressions and Their Computation by Machine

- On the criteria to be used in decomposing systems into modules

- Out of the Tar Pit
