This analysis is interesting, but on the whole I don't think I like it. I'm sure there are bad actors in politics, but I think a whole lot of the multiple realities dynamic is explained by confirmation bias, motivated reasoning, &c, where most of the individuals involved are tricking themselves first.
I suspect this is even often true of the individuals who reach the correct answer on any particular question, whichever that may be.
