Boring apps. Yep. But in my view some apps must be boring, apps follow logical evolution and this evolution is to be functional and best design from this perspective is invisible. Content and function are king and queen. In this kingdom of apps design creativity is only "decorative". I don't like it, but it's true. I imagine design revolution in near future with inevitable adoption of AR/VR canvas will be without screen restriction and in 3d you can express more interactive flow and decorations.
